IRCC web form: when to use it (and when not to)
The IRCC web form is the official online contact channel for many updates and questions. It is also one of the most overused tools in anxious waiting periods.
Use it for
- Updating application information or submitting documents when instructed.
- Asking about an application that is over normal processing time.
- Reporting technical problems or giving program feedback when relevant.
Skip it for
- Daily “any update?” messages inside normal processing times.
- Asking agents to predict your exact decision week.
- Repeating the same enquiry without new facts.
IRCC notes that agents often cannot see more than you can online. A web form is not a private investigator.
If you are past published times, read the past-processing guide before writing.
Frequently asked questions
Will a web form speed up my application?
IRCC states that submitting another web form will not speed processing in ordinary cases. Use it for the reasons listed on Canada.ca.
When should I ask about a case?
Commonly when you need to update information or when an application is over the normal processing time shown for that type.
What should I include?
Application number, UCI, clear facts, and only relevant attachments. Keep the message factual and short.
