How to increase your CRS score

Raising a CRS score is less about secret hacks and more about a short list of official factors. Start with what you can prove in documents within a few months, then decide whether a longer path — Canadian experience, education, or a PNP — is worth it.

Highest-impact levers

  • Provincial nomination — +600 CRS when enhanced through Express Entry.
  • Language — retake IELTS/CELPIP/TEF to reach higher CLB levels; French can unlock points and category eligibility.
  • Canadian work experience — additional years can add core and transferability points.
  • Education — a higher credential or Canadian credential may help if it meets IRCC rules.

Medium-impact levers

  • Spouse language and education improvements when applying together.
  • Sibling in Canada points when eligible.
  • Arranged employment points only when the offer qualifies.
