How the CRS score works in 2026

Your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is the number Express Entry uses to rank profiles in the pool. It is not a personality score and it is not a guarantee of invitation — it is a ranking tool that changes meaning with every round type.

The building blocks of CRS

  • Core / human capital — age, education, language, Canadian work experience.
  • Spouse or common-law partner factors — if you apply with a partner.
  • Skill transferability — combinations of language, education, and experience.
  • Additional points — such as a provincial nomination, siblings in Canada, Canadian education, or strong French, when you qualify.

How to read cut-offs

The official rounds table shows invitations issued and the lowest CRS invited for each round. A 515 CEC round and a 410 French-category round answer different questions. Always note the round type.

Any CRS calculator — including Moose — can miss edge cases. Use it to plan, then verify in your IRCC profile.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good CRS score in 2026?

There is no fixed good score. Recent general cut-offs have often sat in a high range, while category and program rounds can differ widely. Compare yourself to the latest official rounds table, not a single viral number.

Does Canadian education always add points?

Canadian education can add points when you meet IRCC’s criteria. Check the official CRS grid for your credentials.

Is the Moose CRS calculator official?

No. It is a free estimate. Confirm with IRCC’s tools and your Express Entry profile.
